Nós jamais perderíamos o Suicidal Tendencies Party Night que rolou no dia 9 de maio de 2012 na Clash Club em São Paulo. O evento tinha tudo a ver com a thronnsk8mag.com; da galera na pista ao pessoal do camarote, dos apoiadores aos patrocinadores, das bandas aos dj´s: estávamos em Skate Área nos sentindo completamente em casa!

Foi assim, encontrando e reencontrando amigos e chegados de longas datas, que nossa noite começou. Nos juntamos ao pessoal do Grito da Rua, conduzidos por Jonca, skatista, guitarrista e compositor do Kissing Blood, além de contribuidor da www.thronnsk8mag.com. Nos fizeram companhia, o skatista e câmera André Preto e Agata Kissa, vocalista da banda Kissing Blood.
Kissa apresentará o show do Suicidal Tendencies para o lendário Grito da Rua, idealizado por nosso querido Badeco, que voltou com toda força, revivendo o melhor programa de skate da história!

Fomos todos conferir o show do Anjo dos Becos, banda que faz uma mistura incrível de sons e é liderada por nosso amigo Pirata. A plateia já estava animadíssima. Nós também, felizes e honrados por representar a Thronn sk8 mag em um show que estava contagiado por boas energias e vibrações vindas diretamente da Califórnia, onde o mestre Thronn vive com estilo.

Quem já viu o Pirata no palco, nos anos 90, não consegue acreditar que o tempo passou. Ele continua o mesmo, cheio de energia, alegria e carisma. Fechou o show definindo o clima: “na noite somos todos iguais”.
Um público de skatistas, amantes de punk/ hardcore/ trash metal e até o pessoal do hip hop, esperava ansioso a chegada do Suicidal Tendencies. A galera Old School se misturava com gerações que nem haviam nascido quando a banda se formou, em 1981. Dá para entender, o Suicidal Tendecies começou no berço do Skateboard, em Venice na Califórnia. Desde o começo, a banda atraía um público eclético, já que foi uma das pioneiras ao misturar punk/ hardcore e trash metal (o crossover) com hip hop e funk. Acabou virando inspiração para uma geração de skatistas e admiradores desse estilo de som.

Da formação original só sobrou o vocalista, Mike Muir, o famoso “Cyco Miko”. Conhecido também por ter fundado outra banda inovadora, Infectious Grooves, Cyco apareceu com seu controverso lenço na cabeça, que nos remete a sua origem latina-californiana.

Mike Clark (que veio da formação mais conhecida do Suicidal) e Dean Pleasants, deram um show nas guitarras. Eric Moore acompanhou na bateria e Steve Brunner no baixo.

A platéia enlouqueceu quando a banda entrou, tocando “You Can’t Bring Me Down”. O ápice do show veio com “Possessed to Skate”. Não haviam grupos isolados, era uma massa de gente se divertindo com moshes e stages dives. O público não cansava de gritar “ST” e assim, quase não aconteceram paradas para solos durante o show. Eram cotoveladas, pulos, gritos e o clássico espírito do Suicidal Tendencies que reinava absoluto na pista, enquanto no palco, imperava o vocalista, cantando “Cyco Vision”.

Baixista, Steve Brunner

No meio de tanta empolgação, alguns perderam carteira, outros cigarros e, é claro, muito perderam os celulares.Tirando essas coisas, que sempre acontecem em shows que valem muito a pena, a noite foi de uma vibração incrível!

Eu vi toda a confusão lá do camarote. Vi inclusive quando a banda subiu para o camarim, como se fossem simples espectadores como nós. Por ali, só se falava do clip que a banda está gravando no Brasil, em parceria com a Sumemo do Ibiraboy Pois é. É o Suicidal Tendencies se integrando com os Brasileiros totalmente!

Era tanta energia das bandas e do público, que era difícil acreditar que muitos estão na estrada há décadas. Fernanda Terra, baterista da banda de trash metal“Nervosa”, traduziu o momento: “os anos 90 estão de volta”. Parabéns ao Funny Fluxo e equipe que transgrediram o tempo, uniram a galera que tem o hardcore correndo nas veias e provaram que o skate punk faz muito bem para a saúde, obrigada.

The Beastie Boys are an American hip hop group from Manhattan/Brooklyn, New York City.[1] The group consisted of Mike D (Michael Diamond) (vocals, drums), MCA (Adam Yauch) and Ad-Rock (Adam Horovitz) (vocals, guitar) with Mix Master Mike (Michael Schwartz) (turntablist).
The Beastie Boys began as a hardcore punk band in 1979, first appearing on the compilation cassette New York Thrash before releasing their first EP, Polly Wog Stew, in 1982. After achieving moderate local success with the 1983 release of their experimental hip hop 12″ Cooky Puss, they made the transition to hip hop in 1984 and a string of successful 12″ singles followed by their debut album Licensed to Ill in 1986 which received international critical acclaim and commercial success. By 2010, they had sold 22 million albums in the United States and 40 million albums worldwide.

They are one of the longest lived hip hop acts worldwide and continue to enjoy commercial and critical success in 2011, more than 25 years after the release of their debut album. The group has been selected as part of the 2012 induction class into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, after being eligible since 2007.[2] In 2009, the group released digitally remastered deluxe editions of their albums Paul’s Boutique, Check Your Head, Ill Communication and Hello Nasty. Their eighth studio album, Hot Sauce Committee Part Two, was released on May 3, 2011,[3] and received positive reviews.[4]
On May 4, 2012, founding member Adam Yauch died of cancer of the parotid salivary gland.[5] It is not yet clear if the group will continue or not because of this.

X Games Expands to Brazil, Germany and Spain
Three New Cities Join L.A., Aspen and Tignes to Host X Games Beginning in 2013
ESPN, the leading action sports content provider, and creator of the X Games, will bring the X Games to Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil; Munich, Germany and Barcelona, Spain beginning in 2013. Those cities will join Aspen, Colo.; Los Angeles, Calif. and Tignes, France to host the X Games in an effort to expand globally. With relevance to contemporary youth around the world, this expansion is a transformation from an action sports competition brand into an action sports lifestyle brand that will highlight new locations and enhanced cultural and digital elements around the world.

ESPN conducted a formal bid process starting last May which resulted in significant interest from locations around the world that bid to host one of three new events (which join Los Angeles, Aspen and Tignes). Beginning today, local organizing committees for Foz do Iguaçu (pronounced Fawz Day Ig wah soo), Munich and Barcelona will collaborate with ESPN for the next three years to bring the premier action sports event to their cities, launching an annual, six-event X Games calendar – four of which will be summer events and two winter.
“ESPN has been committed to the X Games franchise for nearly two decades and is incredibly excited for the future and this new endeavor,” said John Skipper, president, ESPN and Co-Chair, Disney Media Networks. “We are bringing significant focus to this expansion because we believe in the universal appeal of these sports and competitors and want to share the X Games experience with fans around the world.”

Motorsports icon Travis Pastrana, who has 17 X Games medals to his name, supports ESPN’s decision to expand the X Games globally. “ESPN is giving athletes the opportunity to really chase their dreams, and the X Games are the most important and biggest events ever created for our sports,” said Pastrana. “The concept of bringing them to different places around the world is awesome, and I’m excited to see what it will do for action sports.”
Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil
Action sports is an integral part to the lifestyle in Foz do Iguaçu, especially those linked to nature and water, and action sports participation is growing every year. As one of the seven natural wonders of the world, the city of Foz do Iguaçu, a UNESCO world heritage site since 1986 and center for environmental thought and dialogue, uniquely offers the integration of the event with nature and the concept of environmental sustainability as a true pillar. Located on the borders of Argentina and Paraguay, X Games events will be held at the Iguaçu Falls, the Itaipu Dam and the Foz Do Iguacu Convention Center.

Munich, Germany
The cosmopolitan city of Munich offers a perfect backdrop as numerous sports festivals and top-quality, major international competitions in both professional and recreational sports have been staged within and around the Bavarian capital. The sporting infrastructure already exists and will be used sustainably: The Munich Olympic Park will provide a unique area in the middle of the city with all sports venues for the X Games contained within the park.

Barcelona, Spain
The resounding success of organizing the 1992 Olympic Games contributed decisively to projecting Barcelona’s sports image abroad. The organization of the Olympics improved and endowed the city with a whole series of first-class infrastructures that have since been used to host major sporting events. All X Games activities will be consolidated in Montjuïc Park’s Olympic Ring area, a unique space that combines different top-level sporting facilities with spectacular views over the city.

Site surveys were conducted by ESPN organizers in February and March, and ESPN is prepared to announce on May 1 which three new cities will host an X Games event beginning in 2013.

Nervosa has just finished the recordings for their first demo, which will have three songs and will be released soon. Recently, they’re were the opening act for the thrash metal legend EXODUS in their concert in São Paulo, Brazil.
